harmoney: (silly)

"The time has come!" the Penguin said, "to speak of other things. Of shoes and ships and ceiling wax. Of cabbages and kings!"

So, yeah. I'm burned out. And strangely enough, I'm finding my burnout more amusing than stressful. You see, I've learned that it doesn't matter if you care if you're burned out or not. You still have to get everything done, and in 10 years, you'll look back and wonder why in the hell you were burned out to begin with.

Friday was my frist burnout experience. You see, I nearly demanded that my instructor regrade a quiz of mine because it would appear I had gotten an A- on it. And that just wasn't possible! I can't get *A's* on his quizzes! It's unnatural! THE WORLD MIGHT IMPLODE. Amused he was, but not nearly as amused as he was when in my /next/ class I was in with him, I first of all was confused that he was teaching the class (we're in week, what, 16 now?), then was confused when I heard barking coming from the side of the building. I mean, honestly! Who brings a dog to school?! (You know, the school where we take care of animals on a daily basis and I help clean the kennel of dogs, which is right next to the classroom, every SINGLE morning.)

I managed to make it home that afternoon, but I think that's thanks to autopilot I seem to have installed in my brain. God help me if I ever need to take I-80 anywhere besides Davenport and Cedar Rapids.

And today! Today, I changed the Britta Filter on our faucet in the kitchen. Now, normally this is a no-brainer task, but leave it to me to find a way to make it new and exciting! OOoooh! So, I noticed that the mechanism on the faucet looked kinda dirty inside, and thought to myself, 'Hmmm. I wonder if this should be rinsed out once in awhile as well.' And, in my infinite wisdom, I determined it *does* need rinsed, and I should do that BEFORE I put the new filter on. So, I turned on the water, and flipped the little switch. Aaaaaand.. got a lesson in hydrostatic pressure. Yes, you see, inside that mechansim is a small hole that aaaaaaaaaaaall the water from the faucet is pushed through, up into the filter (when it's there) and forced through. This is, naturally, how it functions. And, when the filter isn't present, the water goes up and up and up and all over everything! And, you'd think you'd immediately turn the faucet off, but.. here I was, trying desparately hard to reach the filter knob, not get wet and not attract attention from Steve. It.. took me a little while. The good news is, I doubt Jazz will be trying to get anywhere near the countertop for awhile. *giggle*
